Certificate Validity
Most Korean universities, employers, and immigration agencies require a valid (non-expired) certificate at the time of application. Some institutions may accept expired certificates for specific purposes, but this is not standard. If your certificate will expire before your application deadline, retake the test.
Score Report Contents
Your TOPIK II score report includes:
- Total score (out of 300 for PBT, 600 for IBT)
- Per-section scores for listening, writing, and reading
- Awarded level (3, 4, 5, or 6, based on total score thresholds)
- Test date and certificate number for verification
If your total score is below 120 (PBT) or 240 (IBT), no level is awarded. You still receive a score report.
Downloading and Printing Certificates
Certificates can be downloaded as PDFs and printed from the TOPIK website. You can also request official printed certificates to be mailed. For overseas test-takers, certificate delivery is handled through the local test center or Korean embassy that administered the exam.
How Institutions Verify Scores
Universities and employers can verify TOPIK certificates using the certificate number on the official TOPIK website. Some institutions accept a printed PDF, while others require the official verification through the TOPIK portal. Check with your specific institution for their requirements.
Retaking TOPIK
There is no limit on how many times you can take TOPIK. You can register for any upcoming exam regardless of previous results. Your highest valid score is the one that matters. Taking the test again does not invalidate previous certificates that are still within their 2-year validity window.
